What measures do you take to verify your nurses?

The Scottish Nursing Guild recruits to standards which meet or exceed local regulations and guidelines. We only accept the top 20% of agency workers.  

Our nurses are registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) and our HCAs are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).  

All of our nurses and HCAs must have: 

  • A minimum of 12 months’ experience in the last two years working in an acute mental health or learning disability setting   
  • A minimum of 12 months previous experience of working in Psychiatric ICU or Forensics 
  • Evidence of completion of Child Protection Training (Level 3) if working in a young offender’s institute 
  • The ability to undertake a range of core skills in a prison medical centre, with a focus on the promotion of health and wellbeing
