We’re here whenever and wherever you need us, at short notice, including for emergencies. We can provide tailored specialist care packages for people with many physical and neurological conditions, such as complex childhood conditions, unstable epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spinal injuries. Our team can manage clinical interventions such as stoma and catheter care, respiratory and airway support including tracheostomy and mechanical ventilatory support, PEG feeding, bowel management, rescue medications and IV medications. We also support palliative and end of life care.

What is complex care?

Complex nursing care is also known as long-term or continuing care. It’s when someone needs specialist medical support each day to help manage an ongoing health condition. This might be physical and/or neurological, sometimes resulting in a disability or sensory impairment. Our nurses have extensive experience across a wide range of complex care needs, including:

  • Airway management (including tracheostomies and ventilatory support)
  • Brain injuries
  • Spinal injuries
  • Central lines
  • Complex medication regimes
  • Continence management (Including catheters and bowel management)
  • Nutritional support
  • Pain management
  • Seizure management
  • Wound management
  • Personal care
  • Palliative care / End of life care

Our complex care services

We can provide highly skilled nurses to safely and effectively care for a service user in their own home or community setting. We can support gaps in current staffing provision, to cover annual leave, or sickness or support a breakdown in current care provision, as an interim measure or on a longer-term basis.

We’ll work with service users and their care advocates, be that health professionals, local authorities, case managers or family members, to ensure that we provide the right workers, at the right time, with the right skills.

We can provide complex care for as long as you need us, whether it’s from 4 hours to 24/7.

Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what clients say about us.

Who can we support?

Across Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, our specialist nurses provide complex care to adults and children in their own homes and in the community. We work with NHS, HSE, local authorities, case managers, and solicitors, as well as with private clients and their families. And if you’re waiting for a hospital discharge but don’t have the proper care in place yet, we can provide the support at short notice to speed things up until your care package is complete.

A fast and reliable complex care service

At the Guild, we have a reputation for managing very challenging and complex requirements at short notice. We can offer short-term provision in the event of a crisis or breakdown in care, but we can also help with mid to longer-term requirements too.

Complex care case study

We provided specialist nursing care for a young adult with complex health needs to prevent hospital admission whilst a longer-term provider could be sourced. He required support with mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, suctioning, seizure management, PEG feeding, bowel management, catheter care, and medication management. We had a core team of nurses to provide continuity and consistency which gave reassurance to his parents.

“The service the SNG gives us allows us to relax in the knowledge that our son is getting looked after by highly trained staff in complex needs.”
