What does a midwife do?

In a midwife job, you are an expert in childbirth. Your role covers providing care and support to women and their families during pregnancy, labour and after the baby has been born. Responsibilities may include:

• Delivering babies
• Providing parenting classes
• Identifying high-risk pregnancies
• Teaching new mothers how to care for their babies

Depending on whether you are working in a hospital or community setting, your role may slightly differ.
